On behalf of the Taiwan Society of Internal Medicine, I would like to extend our heartiest welcome and cordially invite all of you to participate the 28th World Congress of Internal Medicine on November 10-14, 2006 at Taipei International
Convention Center in Taipei , Taiwan .

This is the first time that the biennial congress will be held in Taiwan . According to
the revised statutes of International Society of Internal Medicine, the purpose of the ISIM is to promote scientific knowledge and unity in internal medicine, to further the
education of young internists, and to encourage friendship between physicians in all
countries. We have been designated the theme as ‘Internal Medicine in IT (Information Technology) Er, from medical research, education, clinical service, as well as various subspecialties, geriatric, medical ethics, neurology, critical care and emergency medicine for the congress. So that regardless of your field of subspecialty, there will be something of scientific interest in the congress for all
medical professions and practitioners.

Taiwan is known for its mountainous array, soaring forests, natural setting, and cultural essences, all those have formed the beauty Taiwan . Therefore, it is well known as the name ‘Ilha Formosa given by early Portuguese sailors. Taiwan is
conveniently situated at the crossroads of Northeast and Southeast Asia on one of the busiest air routes. Taipei , its capital, is a city of contrasts with an intriguing blend of
tradition and modernity. In November for Taiwan , the weather in autumn is pleasant and comfortable for all of you to enjoy the Taiwanese hospitality, culture and cuisine.
